This is just such a good cover, especially when you consider it’s high school kids backing him up. For the unfamiliar, this is Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) back playing with his old high school jazz band and jazz teacher. It’s super solid.
A friend just alerted me to this. I like it a lot better than that Karmin ridiculousness, that’s for sure. I will want to hear their original stuff, they play well together.This is brilliant.

Birdy - Skinny Love (Bon Iver cover)
Never heard of her until now. Don’t really know what I think of this cover, but I’m somewhat inclined not to like it. I mean, the video seems well shot. But her execution is…I dunno. It’s like she’s singing it, rather than feeling it. Justin Vernon sings songs and you feel like he’s putting you there. I don’t know that a 14-year girl should cover really cover a Bon Iver song.
But that’s just me.
