Sharon Van Etten - All I Can
We all make mistakes.
Even though I try to ‘stand
Even though it’s slowly
I do all I can
A friend just alerted me to this. I like it a lot better than that Karmin ridiculousness, that’s for sure. I will want to hear their original stuff, they play well together. This is brilliant.
Town Hall- Always On Time (Ja Rule & Ashanti Cover)
Over The Rhine - Lifelong Fling
Did I take too long
Did I get it wrong
You’re still the missing line in my favorite song
Justin Townes Earle - What I Mean To You
Because I’ve been feeling that
You’ve been fooling around with my heart
Oh but I can’t be sure
Yeah, I feel like I’m stumbling
Around in the dark
Danger at every turn
So tell me right now
‘Cuz it’s the least you can do
I need to know right now
Just what I mean to you
Yeah I need to know right now
Just what I mean to you
Josh T. Pearson - Sorry With A Song
Chuck Mead - I Wish It Was Friday
Trampled By Turtles - Wait So Long
my country isn’t like your country music. Thank God for that.
The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow
Kate Maki - Lose My Mind
This is just delightful music. It’s certainly tinged with more country influences than typical folk or my genre-creating fashion, I’d dub it secular gospel. It just feels like hymnal music to me, without being religious at all. Or maybe like the progeny of Bonnie Raitt and Kathleen Edwards.
Moonshine is the fifth record from Kate Maki, grade school teacher by day, songwriter by night. It is the lively northern companion to Maki’s previous introverted desert album, Two Song Wedding.
The David Mayfield Parade - I Might Just Pray
Apparently, there’s a Mayfield whose album I might enjoy more this year than Jessica Lea. How ‘bout that? Enjoyed Cadillac Sky’s Letters In The Deep last year. Listening to him, I hear the familial influence a great deal, but I like this a lot.
