Hanni El Khatib - Dead Wrong
Holy cow. This is so good. Just the entire album rocks.
Alabama Shakes - You Ain’t Alone
I’m not going to stop nagging you all to listen to Alabama Shakes. It’s better than what you’re listening to right now, I promise.
Alabama Shakes - Hold On
The best band of 2011 that I never heard of. Holy, holy cow. Female fronted southern garage rock. They’ll be in Boulder on February 4th and I intend to join them. Wowza. It’s as if Drive-By Truckers, Kings of Leon and The Black Keys got together and adopted someone with Adele’s pipes as their lead singer.
Yeah, it’s that epic.
The Black Keys - Run Right Back
She’s the worst thing
I’ve been addicted to
The Black Keys - Lonely Boy
The Black Keys - Dearest
Dan Auerbach - My Last Mistake
Freddie Gibbs - Oil Money
The beat + Bun B + Dan Auerbach on the hook = makes it work
The Black Keys - Tighten Up
The Black Keys - Never Gonna Give You Up
I know, I saw the title and thought of the Rick Astley song. Instead, it’s a soul-tinged number. The album sounds great, Danger Mouse is a genius and the Black Keys are back at it. They also enlisted singer Nicole Wray, who worked on the BlakRoc project to sing on a few songs and she sounds great.
