9. Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010)
This tense and thrilling fable has to be the best thing to come out of Finland since Sami Hyypia. If you haven’t been to see it yet I urge you to make the effort. Taking it’s lead from the traditional Scandinavian understanding of the naughty list, this film shows that you don’t need gore or flashy effects to rack up the excitment.

Sufjan Stevens - That Was The Worst Christmas Ever!
Sufjan Stevens Christmas box set from a few years back remains my favorite indie Christmas tradition as an adult. The songs are somewhat melancholy to a degree, but they’ve captured my mood consistently during the holidays for years now.

I always think the day after Christmas is a bit strange. For all of the buildup of the holiday, the day after is like…the biggest buzzkill ever.
